“The video was shot on a simple JVC Everio camera as funds are tight and space is even tighter. The video tries to highlight some of the high points of a summer on the river with your good friends a few kayaks and a small budget. Every summer Irish kayakers go to mainland Europe to chase the snow melt swollen rivers, three months were spent capturing footage for this video in 2010″
The routine is a short kayak film that highlights the summer paddling of Irish kayakers abroad. Every summer hundreds of amateur Irish kayakers flock to mainland Europe to get a taste of some big white-water. The routine features footage from the Tara canyon in Montenegro to the steep creeks of Norway. The film aims to show the highlights of summer on the road with nothing to your name except for a kayak.

I love this short. For me it encapsulates everything great about kayaking. The adventure, the excitement, the beauty of your surroundings and of the river. The camaraderie that is found by like-minded people doing what they love and the unforgettable summers that will be talked about for a lifetime.
