The North Fork of the Payette River, Idaho
This World-Class event will showcase the world’s best big water paddlers. The two days of competition will determine the festival’s highest honor, 2012’s King of the NFC. The first day, an open field of Expert paddlers will compete on the river’s lower section. The three top finishers will receive an invitation to the following day’s Elite Giant Slalom Course on Jacob’s Ladder, the river’s most impressive rapid, by far. These three Wild Cards will join thirty of the world’s most Elite paddlers in this race down Jake’s. At the weekend’s conclusion only one paddler will stand as King of the North Fork Championship.
The North Fork of the Payette is known world-wide as some of the hardest, most savage whitewater paddling has to offer. From its headwaters in the mountains north of McCall, Idaho, it flows hard and fast to the south. The fifteen miles of the North Fork that precede the kayaking hub of Banks, Idaho, consist of burly ledge holes and violent whitewater. This is where the NFC will be held. The irregular, razor sharp granite combined with the powerful, non-stop nature of this section of river, create the ultimate coliseum for a high profile kayaking race.
So, come one, come all. Let’s ball.
